Lori's Garage Floor Gets a Coating System Built to Last

Here's what we were working with - a concrete floor covered in oil stains, rust-colored spots, and years of absorbed grime. That kind of surface tells a story, and it's one most garage floors can relate to. Bare concrete is porous by nature, which means every drip, spill, and chemical sits right in and keeps eating away at it over time.

For Lori's garage, we went with our full system - polyurea base coat, full vinyl flake broadcast, and a polyaspartic top coat in Slatestone. That combination isn't just about looks. Each layer is doing a job. The polyurea base bonds hard to the concrete and creates a solid foundation. The flake adds texture and depth. The polyaspartic top coat locks everything in and gives you a surface that's non-porous, UV stable, and genuinely tough.

That UV stability piece matters more than people think. A lot of coatings yellow and dull out within a couple of years - especially in spaces that get direct sunlight through the garage door. Polyaspartic doesn't do that. You get a finish that holds its color and clarity long-term, without the chipping or peeling you'd see with lower-grade products.

The Slatestone color ended up looking sharp in this space. It's a clean, neutral gray-flecked finish that works well in practically any garage. Clean lines edge to edge, consistent coverage, no blotchy spots or thin areas. That's what a proper prep and application process gets you.

What we ended up with is a floor Lori can actually use - one that wipes clean, handles whatever gets dropped on it, and still looks great doing it. If your garage floor looks more like the before than the after, this is the kind of coating system worth getting right the first time.
