Here's what we were working with before we got started - a worn concrete floor with visible cracking, staining, and years of use written all over it. The kind of floor most people just live with because they figure it's "just a garage." But a garage floor takes a beating every single day, and bare concrete is porous, hard to clean, and only gets worse over time.
We applied a full polyurea flake coating system - floor to wall edge, no shortcuts. The prep work is everything on a job like this. You have to grind the concrete down properly before anything goes on, or the coating won't bond the way it needs to. We don't skip that step. Ever. The result is a coating that's locked in tight and built to hold up under real use.
The color we went with is a light neutral blend that looks sharp against the stone exterior of this home. We also ran the coating up the base of the walls as a cove - that detail right at the floor-wall junction makes cleanup way easier and gives the whole space a much cleaner, finished look. It's a small thing that makes a big difference.
What you end up with is a floor that's resistant to oil, chemicals, and moisture - and way easier to sweep or mop clean. No more watching stains soak straight into the concrete. The textured flake surface also adds grip underfoot, which matters in a space where you're walking in with wet shoes or moving things around.
Every floor has its own quirks - different concrete conditions, different layouts, different levels of wear. We look at all of it before we start, and we coat accordingly. That's how you get a result that actually lasts instead of one that peels up two years down the road.
